Whats my purpose..? Do you know yours?
Where ever you are in life, I’m sure at some point you’ve asked yourself the tantalising question ‘what am i doing here’. Maybe your sitting in your office, or picking the kids up or maybe your at school..? Figuring out what to do with your life is quite a tricky subject. But as the world keeps turning life seems to present us with new opportunities.
The Truth
Perhaps for too long you’ve become distracted, too much doom scrolling or drinking with your friends. Wake up monday morning and ask your self the same question. ‘Why am i here?’
Purpose isn’t found it created
Most people avoid the difficult things. We like to play it safe and avoid discomfort. Stay in our little Comfort Zones, too scared to venture outside in the big bad world. If your someone who knows you were meant for more but continue down the same path, truth of the matter is your never going to get anywhere.
Going outside and doing hard things is a great way to unlock new pathways, new opportunities and make new connections. Failure is a great way to see what you’re made of. Some people like to quit before they make it and some people keep going until the very end.
Maybe we spend to much times arguing with people on twitter or tik tok about something trivial or meaningless. “Did you see what happened to Britney Spears this weekend?” Like this actually matters? 99% of humans beings would rather complain about their problems than face the demons. It would seem it’s easier to whinge rather than take accountability.
So stop running from your fears and start facing them, win or loose its more about what you did rather than the result. Theres nothing respectable about a coward…
Why most people stay lost
It seems in todays era we have to much easy access around us. We fall into traps and remain in the darkness forever. Never to find the way out. Todays world will tell you to go to school and get a job because its easy to control the sheep that way. Nobody actually cares about your hopes and dreams!
Staying in the same job
Staying in the same job is a surefire way to end up trapped. Obviously we need the money but have you ever taken time out your day to step into the unknown maybe plan a weekend adventure or start that business you been putting off (for years)
Change of pace
Breaking old routines and habits is another surefire way to get the creative juices flowing. How can you know anything about life if you continue doing the same stuff as always. Einstein said “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results”.
Breaking bad habits
Out with the old and in with the new is a great to find out what you’re really made of. No more drinking and smoking, messing about with your buddies, staying home and getting a pen and paper may be why some people remain in the darkness..
Stepping into the unknown
If you think about all the great explorers that ever lived, we would never have coffee and mangos if some genius person didn’t invent a boat and sail across the pacific ocean to some remote island and find the coffee plant 🪴
My realisation
I found in my experience sometimes the best way is just action, because you learn along the way. ‘Action is better than Inaction’ Just sitting around waiting for the magic fairy isnt really changing anything. You have to actually put one foot in front of the other even if your not 100% sure. Because after doing something you cant step back and reevaluate the situation, what worked, what didnt work and then make changes!
Ask yourself this
What excites me a little
What do you get excited about? What do you go crazy for? Maybe you have some hobbies outside of your job you like to do. Writing down your interests on a piece of paper can be a great way to get started
What do i respect about other people
What traits or characteristics do you admire about another? Does anyone you know inspire you? Have they lived a life worth living and a small part of you really admires them for it? Perhaps you can nut out some ideas and characteristics you like about another person
What feels hard but worth trying?
You ever been to an acting class and felt ridiculous, because i sure have! I like being a macho man and can tell you when i first stepped into an acting class i felt absolutely ridiculous (was like what am i doing here?) but then after some time i realised my favourite macho actors probably went through the same thing (Tom Hardy, Charlie Hunham)
What do i regret not trying?
Do you have any regrets about not trying anything? Maybe it was scuba diving or joining an art class at your local gallery. There are many things to do out in the world and im sure you have some regrets about not trying something, for me it was giving up martial arts when i was younger..
Closing Chapter
You don’t always have to have everything figured out! Sometimes you just need action, to get going! No more waiting around for the doors to open, you have to get out there and kick those doors down! Even if it feels scary or uncomfortable, because the person who never risks anything, risks everything!!
